Description & Services
Information
The Friends of Ellenwood Park are a group of like-minded volunteers who enjoy the beauty and amenities of Ellenwood Park and want to share it with people in the Yarmouth area while encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle.

We partner with the Department of Natural Resources, Yarmouth Recreation and Cross Country Ski NS

From late-September to April, we encourage people to be physically active by making available a variety of programs for all ages, such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, scavenger hunts and nature walks. Free loans of cross country ski equipment and snowshoes are available for all ages!

Sponsorship fees are used to help pay for plowing the walking path, and for grooming and maintenance of trails during the winter months.

The fees are also used to buy wood for the stove in the cabin and outside fire pit, as well as supplies for events and to provide hot beverages in the cabin.

Volunteer opportunities with us include:

- working on the events committee
- helping with park activities
- monitoring the cabin during ski season

Accessibility There is a 20 minute walk from the park gate down to the ski cabin by the lake. Parking is available off of Mood Road. Washroom facilities are available adjacent to the ski cabin.
