| Information | Our Vision: A health West Hants/Uniacke community, responsible for its own health, moving the focus from illness to wellness, to prevention and health education, controlling health care services that are available and accessible to all; and a WHUCHB that helps to instill a sense of community and restore a sense of pride and ownership in health care services Volunteering As health board members we attempt to be the eyes, ears and voice for community health. We listen to, advocate for and support our community to make it the best possible place to live, work and play. Community Health Boards are made up of 12 -15 community volunteers. You do not have to have a health service background to be a CHB members but you do need to live within the boundaries of the CHB and have a knowledge of your community and its attributes as well as its needs. If you are interested in being a part of the West Hants / Uniacke Community Health Board please contact the Health Board Coordinator for more information. Wellness Fund The Community Health Boards (CHB) of Nova Scotia, through the Wellness Funds, support non-profit groups in developing healthy communities. Wellness Funds support projects addressing local community health plan priorities and the social determinants of health, such as income, education, social supports, early childhood development, etc. Funds are provided by Department of Health and Wellness.
