| Information | Looking for a great Winter sport? Come try curling, you'll be glad you did! The Strait Area Community Curling Club is committed to promoting our sport in a friendly atmosphere while providing affordable, quality programs for curlers of all ages and abilities.  It is rumored that the first curling match in Port Hawkesbury actually took place somewhere on Prince Street on a nice winter evening in a driveway, after a party. The idea was fueled by the fact that someone's father had a pair of stones left over from the days when all curlers in Halifax were required to have their own stones and that the driveway was icy. As the guest started to leave, someone got the bright idea to try out the stones. Well, it wasn't long before the group was "curling" to the point of having the kitchen broom in action. |
