Description & Services | |
Information | Our club is a non-profit organization established in 2005 by a group of local photography enthusiasts. Everyone is welcome to join the club, from novice to expert. No prior experience is necessary, just a love for photography. Meetings vary from lecture/slide presentations, competitions, and even workshop nights where members share their particular skills. Be sure to check out our schedule for the upcoming year. We invite you to drop by for a visit, and meet some great people. The goal of our club is to teach members the basics of a topic (e.g. sports) and then follow-up with an activity (e.g. Acadia Football field passes), to allow members a chance to practice the basics. The results of the photographic effort are then shown at the following meeting and there is an opportunity for feedback and if desired some critiquing. Relevant editing techniques will also be presented to help members "achieve" their goal. Monthly assignments are given and are specifically vague, (usually lines, dots, numbers etc.) and can only be taken that month. The purpose of this is to give members an alternative that they can creatively pursue on their own time and pace. These assignments will be the subject of the judging section. We encourage members with specialized skills (e.g. bird photography or digital editing) to make presentations to the membership. We are always interested in seeing well prepared (read short, i.e. < 70) photo travelogues that will be entertaining and interesting to our membership. We recruit professionals from the photographic community to present new and interesting material. Finally, organized club outings (6 per year) provide an opportunity to apply new found skills and also interact and learn from other members. |
Dates | Jan-Jun; Sep-Dec |
Meetings | First Wednesday evening of each month at 7pm, except July and August. All who attend the meeting are required to sign in at the Commissionaire's desk and sign out when departing. |
