Information Short track speed skating is an exciting, FUN sport that is perfect for all ages and abilities! 
 
It's a fantastic sport to help people of all ages get active and stay active! 
 
It's also a wonderful cross-training sport for cyclists, hockey players and figure skaters.  
 
This course will teach beginners about short track safety, covering topics such as how to fall and ice awareness, as well as technique basics such as stance, stride and gliding. 
 
Participants must provide own hockey skates and CSA approved helmet. 
 
Participants should also wear comfortable sport clothing, cut resistant gloves, hard plastic soccer shin guards, volleyball-type foam knee pads and a neck guard. 
 
Sport visor or complete visor are also recommended. 
 
This program is supported by Speed Skate Nova Scotia and the Department of Health & Wellness.
