Public Bulletin The program is for First Nations youth of Cape Breton and the participants have to register for the program. The program runs at Point Michaud Beach throughout the summer months. The Surf Association of Nova Scotia, NSLS, Richmond County, the 5 Unama’ki First Nation communities and other partners contribute to ensure this program is a success each season

Unama'ki Surf Festival

This event is an extension of our Unama'ki youth surf program. This day is an opportunity for all members of the First Nations Communities in Cape Breton, and families and friends of the youth participants, to come out to the beach to try surfing, watch surfing, and be part of a celebration of surfing, family, and community in this beautiful place. Will involve food, music, and exceedingly good times!! This event is hosted by the Surfing Association of Nova Scotia

The Mi’kmaw Surf Camp is a collaboration between all 5 Mi’kmaw communities in Cape Breton. For 6 weeks during the summer, youth ages 13-18 participate in surf lessons and gain skills on the beach ranging from first aid, water safety and surf instruction.



There is opportunity for participants to train to become lifeguards and surf instructors, giving back to the program.
