Description & Services

Information The Municipality of the District of Shelburne Recreation & Parks Department under the auspices of the Recreation & Parks Advisory Committee and Council, shall work to ensure that recreation opportunities exist for all members of the community by providing programs and services which will enable individuals and community groups to help themselves.  
 
The Purpose is to provide general direction and work in cooperation with the Director of Recreation & Parks and staff. 
 
To provide assistance to agencies and organizations in the community in the interest of promoting recreational opportunities. 
 
To make recommendations to council regarding improving areas, facilities, programs, equipment and leadership development opportunities within the Municipality. 
 
To be responsible for the administration of all funds approved by council for recreational purposes.  
 
Sounding board for potential recreation programs and projects. 
 
Membership 
 
2 members of Council - who are appointed annually by the Council. 
 
7 Municipal residents - preferably 1 from each of the 7 districts. 
 
Youth representation - preferably students from both local high schools as well as representing a variety of Districts.
