Come on out to Aylesford Lake to enjoy a swim, some outdoor activity, or a relaxing beach day! Aylesford Lake Beach features a boardwalk, parking lot, picnic tables, a public boat launch, boat docks, change rooms, drinking water, an open grass field, walking trails, playgrounds, and FREE kayak and paddle board rentals (available via pre-booking). Aylesford Lake Beach is a safe beach for kids, as there are no drop-offs or dangerous spots in the water. The beach does, however, commonly experience off shore winds, which can be a hazard for patrons using flotation devices. The lake's rocky bottom can be uncomfortable for tender feet. Due to county regulations, alcohol, pets and open fires are not permitted on the beach. Rentals: Contact sfevens@countyofkings.ca (902)-690-6101 to book kayaks or paddle-boards! Rentals are available Monday-Friday between 10am-4pm. Lifeguards: Lifeguards are on duty daily. The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service supervises a 100m section of the beach. Each end of the beach is well defined by rock and tree lines. Information on beach conditions are announced daily on Magic 97, the local fm radio station at 11:00 am. Due to Aylesford's off shore winds, the lifeguards enforce a "No Flotation Device" policy on a daily basis (with the exception of certified PFDs). Boating: Boats are not permitted to travel within the supervised area, which is marked by red buoys in the water and red and yellow flags on land. NEW Shoreline Speed Restrictions: Maximum 100km/h within 30 metres of shore on rivers and lakes in Nova Scotia. Public Boat Launch: The Boat Launch is presently closed.
