Information | Services Available: Four Public Access Computers with High-Speed Internet Wireless Internet access Scanner and colour printer 3D Printer and digitizer (available by appointment) Photocopying and fax. The Branch is named in honor of its benefactor, Cyril Newton Ward, who was born in Hazel Hill in 1893. Mr. Ward worked in the banking industry in Canada and the United States for most of his life before his eventual retirement and return to Guysborough County in 1958. He was also a veteran of World War I, serving with the Canadian Expeditionary force in Britain and France. Mr. Ward was a prolific reader and frequent user of the bookmobile until his death in 1981. His will provided a generous bequest to the Municipality of Guysborough for the construction of a library building. The Cyril Ward Memorial Library was officially opened on August 6th, 1986. |
