Description & Services

Information As the longest recreational trail in the world, the Trans Canada Trail connects Canada from coast to coast to coast. It embodies the vastness of our landscapes and the diversity of our people. Connect with the past and the present along the Trail!

The route of the Trans Canada Trail in Colchester County follows scenic, rural roads and some of our best trails including:

Butter Trail / Short Line Trail, a shared-use rail trail along the Northumberland Shore
Gully Lake Trail System, wilderness hiking trails in Gully Lake Wilderness Area
Cobequid Trail, a walking and cycling trail in the greater Truro area

On August 26, 2017, celebrations took place in Colchester County and across Canada in recognition of the many volunteers and partner organizations who made the Trans Canada Trail a reality, leaving a legacy for future generations.
