Membertou is situated 3 kms from the heart of the city of Sydney, Nova Scotia, within its tribal district of Unama’ki (Cape Breton). It is one of five Mi’kmaw communities in Cape Breton, and one of thirteen in the Province of Nova Scotia. Within a 1km range, visitors can stay, dine, shop and play. Whether you’re here on business, a family vacation, or visiting as a tourist, we welcome you to experience the ease of staying within our community of Membertou. Looking for a world class hotel? Our Hampton Inn by Hilton Membertou was recently awarded the Hilton Circle of Excellence Award and was the only Canadian property to make it into any of Hilton’s top rankings in 2013. Is food is your #1 priority while you’re traveling? Kiju’s Restaurant, which is conveniently attached to the Hampton Hotel via pedway, has a wide range of dining options including: seafood, steaks, burgers, pastas and more, as well as a tasty kid’s menu. During your stay, shop for authentic Mi’kmaq crafts at Petroglyphs Gift Shop, which is located in the Membertou Heritage Park. You can experience the rich Aboriginal culture by taking a guided tour, viewing interactive videos, or taking a beading, drumming, or Mi’kmaq language class. Try your luck at the Membertou Entertainment Centre, which offers Bingo four nights a week. Business event? The Membertou Trade and Convention Centre offers 47,000sqft of sophisticated meeting and convention space. It can accommodate a variety of events, from the most exclusive wedding reception to a 900-seat concert experience. Catering and Security services are also available. |
Accessibility | Membertou is wheelchair accessible in every building other than the Band Office. There are plans to rebuild the Band Office in the near future in order to make it accessible to all. |
