Information | The Acadian village of Wedgeport was once known as the Sport Tuna Fishing Capital of the World. It attracted famous visitors from around the world including President Franklin Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Babe Ruth, Ernest Hemingway, Jean Béliveau and many others. It also hosted the International Tuna Cup Match from the 1930s to the 1970s. The Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum and Interpretive Centre features hundreds of mementos, pictures, fishing rods, mock tuna boat etc. that pay tribute to this fine industry. The museum also features other exhibits including some Acadian history, Wedgeport history, and a 32 pound mounted lobster. The museum also has a gift shop, a café, and hosts an annual tuna fishing tournament each summer, the Wedgeport Tuna Tournament & Festival. |
Hours | Open June 15th to August 31st. ( 9 am to 6 pm ). Sept 1 to Oct 31( 9am to 4 pm ) Rest of year by reservation only Bilingual tours available. On site gift shop. |
