Information | From Town take Hwy 3 to Arcadia, turn R onto Hwy 334 to Wedgeport. Starting Point: End of paved road (Hwy 334); wooden signs “Sentier”. Parking Available Distance: 5 km (approx) Time: 1hr 20 mins. Description: Loop. Flat, grassy, rocky, wet spots. Trail goes E to shore, along shore, turn R to dirt road, cross over, trail to West shore, along shore to Wedge Point, ends on same dirt road, return to Parking. Attractions: Ocean shore E and W, wetland, muskrat houses, look-off, pebble and sand beaches. Services: None (Outhouse not in use). GPS: Lat: 43°41.68146, Lon: -65°58.79376 The Wedgeport Nature Trail is approximately 5km stacked loop trail system which begins at the Near LeBlanc's Boat Builders in Wedgeport. The trail itself varies from a 4ft. wide tread way of natural duff to a gravel road. You will pass through forests of mixed woods, the Tusket River estuary, barrier beach ponds, eel grass mud flats, coastal marshes, sandy and rocky shores, growths of sea plants, the Tusket Islands, a tree harvest area and a Christmas tree farm. The trail also provides opportunities to view a variety of wildlife. Great Black Backed and Herring Gulls, Terns, Red Squirrel and a variety of song birds to name a few. The trail provides a number of access points with parking, and look-off areas. You can choose to walk the entire trail or do only a small section. Wooden trail markers point the way. |
