Description & Services
Information | Pictou County Early Intervention Association provides home based services to children aged birth to school age who have been diagnosed with, or are at risk of developmental delay. The delay may be due to conditions such as Prematurity, Spina Bifida, Autism, Cerebral Palsy etc. Services include home visits, referrals, toy and book lending, transition support, advocacy and case management. Services are family- centred, free and confidential. The program is designed to meet the unique learning needs of each child in their home. Early interventionists provide support through activities to support five areas of development. Each child is assessed in the developmental areas of cognitive, motor, social, language and self help skills. Families are supported in their role as parents of a child with special needs. Children are supported to help them reach their potential. The program is funded in part through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and local fundraising efforts. It is managed by a non profit board of directors. |
