Information Barrington Bay Trail (Approx. 2.3KM) Barrington Passage, NS The Barrington Bay Trail follows the old CNR Railway line from Barrington Passage to Doctor’s Cove. The path begins in Barrington Passage across from The Old School House Restaurant and ends near Doctor's Cove. There are two official exits one on Station Road, the other on Cape Sable Island Road. Interpretative signs are situated along the route, giving directions and other information pertaining to the trail and general locality. Over 100 species of flora has been found along the trail. Birds are a special part of the trail. In the bays, inlets, hedges and clearings, a wide diversity of species find refuge i winter, nest in summer or reside year round. Fishing and seafaring has always been the main occupation of this area, most families being connected in one way or another with the sea. The municipality has received the title "Lobster Capital of Canada". This trail is connected and maintained by the Woodland Multi-Use Trail Association. It is a Multi-Use trail that is great for off highway vehicles, walking, hiking, biking, cross country skiing and horseback riding. Interpretive signs are found along the trail as well as rest stops and an observation deck with a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean.
